- Acidic Ramming Mass is used in the lining of induction furnaces. Quality of Acidic Ramming mass is directly related to the raw material used for manufacturing it. Normally high quality quartz and quartzite stone are used for manufacturing of silica ramming mass.
- The raw material purity affects the performance of ramming mass and life of lining varies drastically with the change in raw material.
- Normally, silica ramming mass should be supplied in pre- mixed condition. pre-mixed with additives like Boric acid or Boron oxide.
- In Boric acid 50% water content is available and water evaporates while sintering of ramming mass in the furnace. The water vapour generated from heating of ramming mass accumulates on the copper coil insulation and thus reduces life of insulation.
